March 18 Super andy grayBurnley Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Scottish international striker Andy Gray from Sunderland. The 28-year-old joins the Clarets on an initial loan until the end of the season, when an agreed permanent three year deal will be completed. He will be available to make his debut for the Clarets in Saturday's game with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium. A proven striker at Championship level, Harrogate born Gray joined Sunderland last summer from Sheffield United in a £1.1 million switch. Prior to that, Gray had netted 28 goals in 65 games for Sheffield United, who had signed him from Bradford City in February 2004. The son of former Leeds United and Scotland star Frank Gray, he began his career as a winger at Elland Road in the mid-1990's before a £200,000 switch to Nottingham Forest in 1998. Further loan spells at Preston North End and Oldham Athletic preceded a move back to West Yorkshire with Bradford City and it was at Valley Parade where he reverted to a striker's role. His form there earned him a call-up to the Scotland squad before Sheffield United paid an undisclosed fee to take him to Bramall Lane. Gray will wear the squad number 20 at Turf Moor.
